About the Company

With a reputation built on innovation and world-class quality, our unswerving commitment to creating unique products that surpass our customers’ expectations, is what sets us apart from other manufacturers. Our patents and accolades, including being awarded the prestigious “Manufacturing Guild Mark” in 2018 by The Furniture Makers Company, is testimony to our commitment to innovation, quality, and customer care.

Our Brands

Launched in 2014, Rivelin design, CE approve and manufacture a range of outdoor gas fire tables here in our Sheffield premises.  Our mission is to produce the highest quality outdoor furniture, embodying form and function, art and technology, all made within the UK. Unsatisfied with the products available on the market, we have tore up the rule book showing how an outdoor fire should look and redesigned every aspect, every detail, incorporating levels of beauty, and technology unavailable elsewhere. This passion has seen us quickly become established as the premium manufacturer of outdoor gas fires and led to us to being specified by the some of the world’s best known garden designers, landscapers and landscape architects.

We constantly push the boundaries and ourselves to deliver furniture that we are proud to make and you will be proud to own. Our passion for detail can be seen in every Rivelin product as we strive for that perfect combination of form and function, a journey which never ends.

Launched in 2011, the Ekofuel brand encompasses Prima Industries Ltd range of fuels for use on indoor and outdoor fires. Ekofuel bio-ethanol is a high purity, double rectified and denatured fuel for use on indoor bio-ethanol fires. It is used by thousands of consumers, restaurants and hotels every year and is sold through our online websites, EBay and Amazon.

Launched at the UK Hearth and Home show in June 2007, Embaglow is used as a glowing ember on gas fires. Backed by a UK patent granted in 2007, it is now sold to OEM’s across the UK, Europe and North America. Although a simple idea, various materials were evaluated before eventually settling on the current high temperature metal fibre. The fibre has a very thin diameter and responses instantly to the heat of the flame, creating a shimmering glow as the gas flame moves over and then away from the fibrous ember.

Launched in 2007, Prestigious Fires has been Prima Industries Ltd online platform for fireplace related products ever since. Working closely with architects and specifiers, Prestigious Fires has supplied fireplaces to homes throughout the UK and beyond.

Meet the Team

Robert Smith PhD, BEng (Hons)

Robert founded Prima Industries in 2007 when he first launched Prestigious Fires. From an online shop with a few bio-ethanol fuelled fires, Robert has overseen Prima Industries steady growth and the introduction of Embaglow, Ekofuel and Rivelin. With a lifetimes experience of developing new products in various fields including ceramics and metal manufacturing, Robert is at his best when designing a new prototype or solving a problem. During what little spare time Robert has, he enjoys the odd game of golf and spending time outdoors.

Louise Smith

Louise joined Prima Industries in 2009 to help with the accounts and sales, following a successful career in blue chip organisations. Over the years, Louise has become more focused on sales and today she has expert knowledge of our Rivelin range of outdoor gas fires. Louise’s experience and attention to detail ensures that our customers receive the expert guidance that only a specialist can provide. As a busy mum, Louise is often away supporting her daughter on her busy swimming calendar.

Amy Chantry BSC (Hons), MSc (Eng), CIMA Cert BA

After graduating from Sheffield University with a first class degree in Mathematics, Amy joined Prima Industries Ltd in March 2013 on a Santander internship. Initially testing new bioethanol based fuels, her role then moved to bookkeeping and management accounts, where she continues to train towards becoming a Chartered Accountant. Working in a small team and alongside Robert and Louise has meant Amy has in depth knowledge of various aspects of the business including Rivelin products, purchasing, IT and order processing systems. In her spare time Amy enjoys scuba diving and like Tom is often either teaching scuba diving or away on a new adventure.

Tom Colbensen BA (Hons)

Tom joined us in Aug 2016 on a placement year from Sheffield Hallam University studying product design. Following a successful placement year, Tom returned to Prima Industries in May 2018 on a permanent contract after graduating with a first class degree in Product Design. Tom works alongside Robert, in designing new products, bespoke designs and general engineering problem solving. Tom has a keen interest in 3D prototyping and oversaw the introduction of 3D printing to Prima, to help improve manufacturing efficiency. Like Amy, Tom is a keen scuba diver and can often be found in a deep, low visibility pit at weekends.

Jordan Goodall

Jordan joined Prima Industries in December 2018 after a 3 year spell as a self employed web author. Jordan plays a key role in ensuring that all our online orders are processed diligently and customers are kept informed of the order process. Outside work Jordan is still a keen Sci-Fi and fantasy author and is determined to finish a 1000 page novel he has been working on.

Chris Johnston MEng (Hons)

Chris joined us in June 2019 after completing an Aerospace Engineering degree at the University of Sheffield. Chris is involved with all aspects of production from stock control and purchasing, to manufacturing and quality control. During his free time, Chris can often be found at the Cinema or training at the gym with friends.

Buddy BA (rk)

Buddy joined Prima industries in 2009 and has been a constant member of the team ever since. Although a little destructive at first, Buddy quickly settled into his new role and is now the first member of the team to greet customers and suppliers. Having worked through the financial crisis of 2009 and now brexit, Buddy goes about his daily duties unaffected and seems content with the odd treat and a pat.
